The Utah and Wyoming communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of 26-year-old Zachary Giles Wright, who passed away on May 26, 2025, after a sudden and devastating battle with Burkitt Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. His unexpected passing has left his family, friends, and the Star Valley community in profound grief.
Born January 22, 1999, in Murray, Utah, Zach was the eldest son of Jeremy and Jennifer Wright and the devoted husband of Annie Wright, whom he married in 2023. Loved ones remember him for his courage, humor, faith, and the genuine kindness that shaped the way he lived and connected with others.
Zach’s illness progressed with unimaginable speed. After experiencing severe abdominal pain, he sought medical care and was diagnosed on May 24. He and Annie traveled immediately to Salt Lake City to begin treatment, but despite early signs of possible improvement, his condition declined rapidly, and he passed away just two days later. The suddenness of his loss has left his family reeling.
A lifelong adventurer, Zach earned his Eagle Scout rank, worked as a whitewater guide, served on ski patrol teams, and contributed to avalanche mitigation efforts. Whether snowboarding, rafting, or exploring the outdoors, he approached every challenge with passion and leadership. His service in the Mexico Oaxaca Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints further reflected his compassion and devotion.
A GoFundMe established to support medical and funeral expenses has raised over $34,000, underscoring the widespread love for Zach and Annie.
Funeral services will be held May 30 and 31 at the Sandy Utah West Stake Center.
