Chelmsford, Essex – It is with profound sadness that the family of Sam Gilbert announces his passing. Sam died peacefully last night surrounded by those he loved most, concluding a courageous and determined battle with stage four bowel cancer.
A visionary creator and a natural leader, Sam’s career spanned education, entrepreneurship, digital innovation, and creative arts. He founded the global music discovery platform Music Crowns, and played a central role in expanding Chunky Frog Design Ltd, all while leading Icon Waste Services with remarkable dedication. His ability to move seamlessly between industries reflected his rare blend of imagination, intelligence, and drive.
Sam was diagnosed in April 2024 and bravely endured 29 rounds of chemotherapy. Even as the cancer progressed aggressively, he met every challenge with resilience and an unbreakable spirit. He refused to let his illness define him. Instead, he continued to radiate the humor, spark, and unmistakable wit that made him so deeply cherished.
Throughout his journey, Sam was profoundly touched by the overwhelming support from friends, colleagues, and the wider community. Every message, visit, and act of kindness reminded him of the immense love surrounding him. That love now remains as a comfort to his family during this time of immeasurable grief.
Sam’s life was a testament to creativity, generosity, and the unshakable power of human connection. His legacy lives on in the music he helped uplift, the companies he built, and the countless people whose lives were changed by his warmth and brilliance.
Funeral arrangements will be shared soon as the family takes time to navigate this heartbreaking loss.
May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
